Road Rage Radio
Behind the Work
Ramadan is one of the most meaningful times of the year in the UAE. It's also one of the most dangerous times to be on the road.
Drivers spend hours fasting in extreme heat while navigating heavy traffic, creating the perfect conditions for frustration, aggressive driving, and accidents.
Research shows that music can influence heart rate, mood, and stress levels. So instead of telling people to drive more carefully, we used music to help them stay calm.
We analyzed songs based on their Beats Per Minute (BPM) and built a system that monitored live traffic conditions across the city. When congestion increased and tensions rose, participating radio stations were automatically prompted to switch to slower playlists designed to reduce stress and road rage in real time.
Road Rage Radio transformed radio from the boring informational medium into a tool for safer driving.

Results That Matter
The impact went beyond engagement metrics and delivered measurable real-world outcomes.
Compared to the previous Ramadan period, the campaign contributed to:
- 29% fewer traffic accidents
- 43% fewer road injuries
- 38% fewer road fatalities
Proof that sometimes the most effective road safety intervention isn’t another warning, it’s the right song at the right moment.
